Some time ago I noticed that the bottle water we bought from the supermarket contains three times more fluoride than the tap water in Helsinki, which is practically fluoride-free. I felt as we had been bringing sand to the beach when we had carried litres of water from the shop, although the tap water is even better.
But how can you know? How can we know what is good water?

When I question this another question arises: Why do we drink water? What is the most important function of water in our bodies? It has several important functions, but regarding to the basic function of metabolism its most important function is its ability to dispose metabolic waste from the body and in that way maintain acid base (pH) balance of the body. But what kind of water removes metabolic waste from the body?

Metabolism needs an alkaline environment to work properly.
Our inner organs need an alkaline environment for optimal functioning.
Many harmful micro-organisms cannot live in alkaline environment.
Different organs have their own ideal pH value.

The pH value of blood is 7,34-7,45. The acid-base limit value is 7, where the substance is neutral: It does not increase alkalinity or acidity.
A value lower than 7 tells about acidity, greater than 7 tells about alkalinity. The pH value of water should be at least 7, in the best case over 9.

The Western diet consists mainly of nutrients that turn to acidic metabolic waste in the body. Acids are concentrations of positively charged protons (hydrogen ions, h+ ions). For their removal we need negatively charged electrons. Alkaline water, which is full of electrons (ORP, Oxidation Reduction Potential at least -250) absorbs the acidic hydrogen ions in its fluid and removes them from the body.
In that way alkaline water neutralises the acid load of the body.

Acidity of the body creates chaos in internal body environment. The more acidic we are the more our body attracts bacteria, yeast, mould and fungus. These left they own metabolic waste to the blood and make the body more acidic. Constant acidity is a heavy burden to tissues. It damages cell function and has an affect from heartbeat to brain and nervous system.

The body works hard to keep the pH balance on tolerable level.
There is not much margins, and the body’s own organisms cause even damage in other tissues and internal systems in order to maintain the balance. It restores the pH balance by neutralising the acids with alkaline minerals.
If the diet doesn’t contain enough minerals and micro nutrients, the body takes these alkaline substances from mineral storages like bones, hair, nails, skin, teeth, cartilage and other tissues. This makes them brittle and in the long run it leads to different kinds of deficiency diseases and symptoms related to them. If the acid load of the body is so big that the body cannot balance the pH any more it stores excessive acids in tissues. It is as if the body gives up its struggle and sweep the garbage under a rug.

First symptoms of acidity in the body:

  • You are never thirsty or hungry, or you are always hungry (body’s natural control system is not functioning)
  • Lack of energy, fatigue, low libido
  • Hypersensitivity and irritation (e.g. sensitive stomach, allergies)
  • Mucus secretion and congestion
  • Ulcer
  • Inflammation

Some doctors say that there is only one disease: body acidification. All symptoms that we see as different diseases are symptoms of body acidification. Also the acidification of water systems in nature causes eutrophication, which has various negative effects. Human body is a kind of water body, because our body consists for the most part of water. A healthy body, in which it is easy for organs to maintain the pH balance, can defend itself against every threat coming from outside. The body is meant to heal itself. We only have to take care that the operational environment of our inner body is suitable for its workers.
